April Ross

April Ross was one of only a few women beach volleyball athletes who earned medals during several Olympics. Alix klineman, who is playing for the first time at the Tokyo Olympics, will try to earn her third Olympic medal. Ross is hoping to secure her Olympic first gold medal, but she is also aiming for even more. At 39 she could have her last shot. She is still confident nevertheless. Ross stated to NBC Boston that if they are at their absolute best and even play well, she believes the team will be able to win the gold medal. Then I will also take the chance to have chance. Ross is born in the year 1982. Costa Mesa California where she lived with her parents as well as a her sister. Along with participating in a variety of sport, she also attended Newport Harbor High School. As a prep-athlete she played indoor volleyball and track. Although she was a pro in indoor volleyball however, it was evident that her performance was above the average. In her college volleyball season as per her college biography she played as a middle-blocker, outside-hitter and setter. For her efforts she was awarded in 1999 as the Gatorade International Player of the year in Circle of Champions. Also, in 2000 she was awarded the Orange County Athlete of the Yr for volleyball. Ross and Klineman are continuing to play in 2017. However, Ross was an important player in the beach volleyball scene prior to the pair. She has been able to win multiple tournaments, including one with the legendary player of volleyball. Jennifer Kessy was her partner during six years from 2007 until 2013. She also coached Klineman as well as herself. Alongside Kessy Ross, she was a major force in the world circuit, winning the world championship in 2009. The 2012 Olympic Games, they won the gold medal. They were defeated for the gold by the legendary group comprising Misty and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings replaced May-Treanor when she retired. In 2016, the pair won bronze in the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross was a college player at USC Trojans prior to beginning starting her professional career. She played during high school, and even some years before she hit the beach professionally. Ross's playing time with the Trojans was impressive. She was a All-American as well as Pac-10 Freshman of Year when she was a teen freshman. She also helped the Trojans to make it to into the Final Four. The second season of her career she was devastated by a personal loss and still managed to earn the honor of being named an All-American. Through the two years she played for the Trojans they helped achieve consecutive championships. Her individual achievements have cemented her as a volleyball legend. She was awarded the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the best female college player. Ross played international relations as a major at USC. Unfortunately, Ross mother Margie did not get to see Ross rise to the very top of beach volleyball stardom. Ross lost her mother to breast cancer in 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. However, she keeps her parent close to his heart. Margie is an inspiration on and off at the beach.
