He is currently signed to Combate Americas. 2 Ortiz is best known for his participation in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in which he is a former Light Heavyweight Champion, having been the champion since April 14th, 2000 to September 26 2003. Along with fighters like Randy Couture and Chuck Liddell, he was one of the first stars of the sport. Ortiz ultimately became the biggest pay-per view draw of 2006 thanks to his fights with Liddell, Forrest Griffin, and Ken Shamrock.Ortiz is the president of Punishment Athletics' MMA equipment as well as clothing line, which is located in his hometown of Huntington Beach, California.
